Khaju is one of the oldest bridges in the world. The length of the bridge is about 132 meters and the width is about 12 meters. The bridge served different purposes and has been widely visited by a vast majority of tourists. It was used as a dam and provided irrigation water for the neighboring areas and towns. The bridge is made of bricks and stones and has 23 arches on the top floor. In the past, horses and carts could pass the river by the help of this bridge but presently it is used only by the pedestrians. At nights, local people get together and stand under the bridge and invite the company of other people by singing traditional songs. In the center of the top part of the bridge, there is a pavilion that the king used for sitting and watching the pleasurable and delightful view underneath.iran tour
